Midvale • For the second year in a row, a crush of families with nowhere to call home has led to an early opening of an overflow shelter.

The Road Home moved 30 homeless families to its Midvale facility Monday, filling about half the beds available in the warehouse-like space. The families had been sleeping on cots in the hallways and lobby of The Road Home’s downtown shelter because all 31 family rooms are occupied.
