Irene Fisher

Irene was one of the founding members of Voices for Utah Children, then known simply as Utah Children, in 1985.

Born in 1938, Irene was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose compassion touched many lives. As president of the Salt Lake League of Women Voters, she gave voice to those who couldn’t speak for themselves.

Her selfless work continues to inspire Utah’s women. As founding director of the Lowell Bennion Community Service Center and a guiding hand for Voices for Utah Children, she championed women and children alike.

Irene was beloved by the University of Utah community for her tireless advocacy. She rallied against replacing low-income housing with a parking garage and helped many Utah women find their voices. Irene's legacy lives on in the voices she lifted, the lives she changed, and the community she helped build.
