Nina taught us what it meant to enjoy life and to take every day as an adventure. One of Utah’s own, she was born in Orem and graduated from BYU with a bachelor's degree in Art with a minor in French. A degree wasn’t the only thing she received from BYU, as she met the love of her life, Martin Palmer.
Her work had only begun when she graduated from BYU. She knew she was destined for greater things and began working for various organizations. She worked with the Utah Federation for Drug-Free Youth and was a member of the Governor’s Task Force on Youth Alcohol and Drug Use, and the Governor’s Council on Volunteerism. As if that wasn’t enough, she decided to start the Utah Association of Women in the 1970s.
Nina was proud of who she was and who she loved. We are so grateful for the impact she’s had on our lives and the work she has done to make the world a better place.
Nina and her husband, Dr. William "Marty" Palmer, were the first people inducted into the Utah Children Hall of Fame in 1986 for their efforts on behalf of children. Then-board member Randall Carlisle, a KUTV anchor at the time, presented the awards.
