What was your favorite hobby or extracurricular activity as a child, and did you pursue it further later in life?
Dance, yes. I danced throughout High School and college and now dance professionally in my kitchen.

What was the most challenging experience you faced as a child, and how did you overcome it?
The separation of my parents, I overcame it with the support and mentorship of my teachers and community members who were there to comfort, support, and validate me.

What advice would you give to your younger self, based on what you've learned throughout your life so far?
There is power in admitting you need help and allowing yourself to ask for help. It is the first step to understanding.

Biography
Liliana, a proud Mexican American from Michoacan, Mexico, brings over three years of professional experience in the immigration law field. In her previous capacity, she served as a Senior Immigration Paralegal at Immivisa Law Group in Lehi, UT, showcasing her expertise in navigating complex legal landscapes. She is also a graduate from Brigham Young University. In 2020, Liliana interned with Voices for Utah Children as an Immigrant Rights Policy Intern. Her commitment to advancing immigrant rights and equitable policies led her back to Voices for Utah Children, this time as an Immigrant Rights Policy Analyst. As a DACA recipient and daughter of immigrants, Liliana intimately understands the urgent need for essential immigration reform. Her lived experiences as an undocumented child growing up in Utah without access to healthcare or a pathway to citizenship have fueled her passion for advocating for change and being a voice for the undocumented community.
