What was the most valuable lesson you learned as a child, and how has it influenced your life today?
My love of learning was instilled in me by my parents, who always emphasized the value of education. I have found education to be instrumental in creating a path for fostering relationships, creating community, and challenging flawed systems that may cause harm to others.

What was your favorite hobby or extracurricular activity as a child, and did you pursue it further later in life?
I discovered my love for music through playing the violin in school. I was involved in numerous string quartets, youth symphonies, and was selected to be first chair in my school orchestra. My most treasured moments were the times I got to spend in the pit where I had the opportunity to bring to life the music from timeless productions like A Christmas Carol, The Sound of Music, and The King and I. While I don't play as much as I used to, I hold a deep appreciation and admiration for those who continue to play classical instruments. These days I enjoy traveling, photography, going to concerts, and hanging out with my 3-year-old golden retriever, Leia.

What was your favorite meal or dish that your family would make, and do you still enjoy it today?
I was fortunate enough to be raised in a culturally rich Peruvian household. My parents would often (and still do) prepare traditional meals, and out of all the dishes, Papa a la Huancaína continues to hold a special place in my heart. I can’t help but feel excited whenever my mom comes home with queso fresco and aji amarillo.

What was the most challenging experience you faced as a child, and how did you overcome it?
As a first-generation immigrant, I have encountered numerous systemic barriers that have made it difficult for me to pursue my personal and professional aspirations. I learned to navigate and overcome these obstacles by actively seeking out supportive communities and individuals who have played pivotal roles in my life. Despite these challenges, I have chosen to take these experiences as sources of empowerment to help advocate for myself and those around me. Throughout my journey, I have come to realize the profound impact of having a supportive network of individuals can who guide, uplift, and support me. Their unwavering presence and guidance have been instrumental in shaping my life and instilling in me the belief that positive change is a collective effort.
